Natural Ayurvedic diet remedies for Constipation

Constipation is a very common condition and it is affecting a large number of the population on daily basis. Unhealthy eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, stressful environment, and some ailments like underactive thyroid, hormone imbalance, IBS, etc lead to constipation and if it is not taken care of on time, it can become chronic also.

A high Vata imbalance in Ayurveda and excessive dryness in the body lead to constipation. Most people affected also feel bloated and uneasy throughout the day. Continuous feelings of constipation can be very unsettling and painful.

The Ayurvedic diet remedies mentioned below are helpful, nonetheless, a healthy diet with limited junk and alcohol, keeping oneself well-hydrated and regular workout is mandatory to alleviate constipation problems.

  1. Ghee: It will help in reducing dryness in the body. Ghee in Ayurveda is considered Agni Vardhak, it rekindles Agni. It helps in boosting metabolism.

  2. Figs:  Figs are a natural laxative because of their high soluble fiber content.  They are also very rich in Iron. Soaked figs mixed with ghee in the morning help relieve constipation

  3. Harad: Haritaki or Terminalia Chebula is a very potent ayurvedic herbs for Kapha dosha. It has immense qualities, out of which is that it helps in regulating bowel movements. It is detoxifying in nature, improves gut health, helpful if you have a leaky gut. 

  4. Dill Seeds: They help in reducing bloating and abdominal cramps. They come Deepana category of Ayurveda. Dill seeds help in improving digestive strength.
